Our Staff

Principal - Mrs. Teresa Hand-Campbell

Teresa Hand-Campbell has extensive experience as a primary Principal (1987 to date) and holds an M.Sc. in Occupational Psychology.  Teresa is the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) and Secretary to the Board of Management for the Abbey N.S.

Deputy Principal - Cathy Mulrooney (Learning Support)

Ms Cathy Mulrooney, B.Ed. has enjoyed success both in mainstream and special needs areas of our school and is presently our School’s Learning Support/EAL teacher.  Key link person with the PDST for School’s self-evaluation in the area of  Numeracy,  Cathy is also instructional leader in the area of SPHE, acts as Health & Safety Officer and assists in maintaining school records.

Assistant Principal - Mrs. Nicola Gately (5th/6th Class)

Mrs Nicola Gately, BA Psych., Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary). continues to work with senior pupils of 5th and 6th classes. Key link person with the National Educational Welfare Board (NEWB) and PDST for school’s self-evaluation in the  area  of  Literacy,  Nicola  also  holds  responsibility  for  Information Technology  at  the  school.     She  is  curriculum  leader  for  Maths  and  is responsible for timetabling and co-ordinating SNAs within the school.

Our in-school management team includes:

Ms. Marie George (Resource)

Ms Marie George, B.A. works as Resource teacher  at the Abbey N.S. and is curriculum leader for English, also co-ordinating books fairs and library supplies within the school. Marie is responsible for monitoring pupils’ uniforms and maintenance of corridors and displays throughout the school. 

Mrs. Christina Mannion (4th Class)

Mrs Christina Mannion, B.Ed. teaches 2nd Class and is curriculum leader in the area of Sport for all classes. She has extensive experience in training, organising and co-ordinating inter-school initiatives in Gaelic, Soccer, Hurling, Rugby and Athletics,  with noteworthy success.   Success in Spikeball at local, county and regional level has also been spearheaded by Ms Clodagh McHugh, adding to the sporting endeavours of the school.  

Christina also monitors supplies of Arts & Crafts materials throughout the school and holds joint responsibility for Gaeilge for all classes, alongside the Principal.  

Mrs Michelle Flannery (2nd Class)

Mrs Michelle Flannery, B.Ed. works as 2nd and 3rd class teacher and is curriculum leader for Visual Arts, Music and Drama.  As Church liaison person, Michelle prides herself in training our school choir for First Communion and all other Church and seasonal initiatives throughout the school year. Staff development and co-ordination of annual school tours are also ably looked after by Mrs Clodagh McNamara.

Ms Joan Mannion (5th/6th Class)

Ms Joan Mannion, B.Ed., 5th and 6th class teacher drives all Science, Green Schools and An Taisce walking and cycling initiatives at the school.  The school was recently awarded its 6th Green Flag for its endeavours on the theme of ‘Travel’. Ms Mannion and Mrs Gately drive all IT initiatives in the school.
